This report presents the results of an evaluation of PhD studies at Danish universities. The evaluation was carried out in 1999 by a panel appointed by the Danish Council for Research Policy.

The volume and quality of the research training has increased substantially in recent years and at present more than 1000 PhD degrees are granted per year.

The report contains a series of recommendations from the evaluation panel. Danish research training must be on an international level and internationally competitive.

Innovation strategy

The government has begun developing Denmark's first innovation strategy.
