In the spring of 2006 the Government will present a strategy on how to deal with the challenges of globalisation. For that purpose the Prime Minister established a high-profile ministerial committee in 2005. The Committee consists of:

  • the Prime Minister
  • the Minister for Economic and Business Affairs
  • the Minister of Education
  • the Minister for Finance and
  • the Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation.

Furthermore the Prime Minister established a Globalisation Council. The above-mentioned Ministers are all members of the Globalisation Council along with representatives from central stakeholder groups, e.g. industry, trade unions, and knowledge institutions.

The Council is to advise the Government with respect to the strategy and contribute to its implementation.

Main targets of the strategy are:

  • Denmark as a leading knowledge society
  • Denmark as a leading entrepreneurial society
  • World-class education
  • Denmark as the world's most competitive society.

In the spring of 2005 the Globalisation Council held 3 meetings to map the challenges. During the autumn of 2005 and winter of 2006 the Council held 9 meetings, each with a specific topic to be discussed. Prior to each meeting the Government prepared a discussion paper and invited relevant national and international speakers.

The final strategy will include several specific initiatives that will help the Danish society deal with the challenges of globalisation.

A summary of the strategy in English will be made available on this website in April 2006.
