Research and Innovation in EU

An essential part of the Danish EU Presidency will be to provide the grounds for further political discussions and negotiations about important research and innovation initiatives.

The European Commission has put forward its proposal for a new framework programme for research and innovation, Horizon 2020, which will replace FP7. 

The EURATOM framework programme funds nuclear research activities. The Danish Presidency will initiate negotiations on the next programme.

During the Danish Presidency, negotiations on the Commission's proposal for the first Strategic Innovation Agenda for the EIT will be initiated.

EIT

The European earth monitoring-programme, which will improve our knowledge of the climate and environment, will be negotiated during the Danish Presidency.

Policy Area: Competitiveness (COMPET)

Research and innovation is a part of the Competitiveness Council (COMPET). The Council is responsible for further developing the EU's single market and ensuring the framework conditions for European industry and research.

  • Minister for Science, Innovation and Higher Education, Morten Østergaard
  • Minister for Business and Growth, Ole Sohn
